3-d Pixelated Paratroopa by 8Bit-Artist 3-d Pixelated Paratroopa by 8Bit-Artist
3-d Pixelated Paratroopa. used the same 1/2 inch in diameter wooden cubes as i did with the underworld goomba. this one was more complex in every way (more blocks, more colors, more complex design)

over 2000 wooden cubes were needed for this in comparison to the little over 1400 for the goomba.

almost a foot tall, 6 inches side to side and 8 inches front to back.

I think this was my favorite piece you've ever done. I'm a fan from way back (Myspace). Are you still making/selling your works?

holy balls, just the fact you can make a simulated-pixelated 3-d model from a 2-d source is fucking amazing. wonderful!!

heh, i could have done that, but i like people to know right off the bat how much work was put into it.

someone asked me if it was legos i used. i dont see how someone could mistaken wooden cubes for legos but whatever.

This is awesome... but I'd have to say the goomba is better (my opinion remember) the paratrooper seems too square, where the goomba seems mushroomish, which is what is is... bravo nonetheless...

personally and artistically i like the paratrooper better imo. more colors, more complex design, harder to build, etc...

but hey, as long as people enjoy it thats all that matters

I do enjoy it, it's a work of art... but when looking at the front view it seems too blocky (get it)

but seriously, I think the front could have (might have) been rounded a bit more...

well, haha, its hard to not make wooden cubes not blocky, especially when going for a pixelation look. you saw the goomba's front in the game, but its weird to look face to face with a paratroopa cuz our whole 8-bit and 16-bit generations you only ever got a side view for the most part. if i rounded a portion of the sculpture, i think it would take away from the pixelated look i was going, imo.

That makes sense... because the paratroopa was a side view when you extrude the sides (which is it's front) it doesn't have much definition an consequently looks blocky... I get it now thanks... you put it into perspective...

Wow, that work is, I'll say it, quite incredible. The craftsmanship required to assemble all those blocks is definitely worthy of praise.

So, Bravo. Bravo on the design, the excecution, and the good idea.
